AWC, NAU, ASU and UofA Commencement Ceremony Traffic Alert (Detour Updates)!!!

The Arizona Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) are working to improve safety and ease congestion at the Interstate 8/Araby Road traffic interchange. An $8 million project funded by the FHWA Highway Safety Improvement Program began in July 2017. Crews are building two, two-lane modern roundabouts that will provide a high level of service beyond traffic projections for 2035, and that fit into the existing ADOT right-of-way. To minimize impacts on traffic during the produce season, ADOT has scheduled work to occur in two phases: Phase 1, which included construction of the first roundabout on the north side of the traffic interchange, was completed in October 2017. Phase 2 is scheduled on the south side of the interchange from spring to fall 2018.
The roundabouts are designed to accommodate large commercial trucks, agricultural equipment and recreational vehicles. Learn more about the many benefits of roundabouts at
