Ramp closure and lane restrictions scheduled near Interstate 8 through Nov. 26

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan ahead for alternating lane closures on Old US 80 and a ramp closure on Interstate 8 near Dateland through Tuesday, Nov. 26.

Contractors are scheduled to repair guardrail.

Work is scheduled to occur from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Friday, Nov. 22, and then resume from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. beginning Monday, Nov. 25, and ending Tuesday, Nov. 26.

The following restrictions will be in place while work is underway:

  • One lane of traffic will remain open on Old US 80 between the Interstate 8 overpass and the Mohawk Rest Area (milepost 55) with flaggers to direct motorists through the work zone.
  • The eastbound I-8 on-ramp Exit 54 (Old US 80 and Avenue 52E to Mohawk Valley) will be closed on Monday, Nov. 25, and Tuesday, Nov. 26.
  • A 12-foot vehicle width restriction will be in place.

Alternate I-8 off-ramps include using Exit 42 (Avenue 40E to Tacna) or Exit 67 (Avenue 64E to Dateland).

ADOT reminds motorists to plan for delays, proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down, and watch for construction personnel and equipment.
