YMPO Close Down Message

By | April 2nd, 2020 | 0 Comments

This message confirms that Yuma Metropolitan Planning Organization (YMPO) staff will work from home (telework) for the next two weeks, as a minimum, pending any further action by the President and/or Governor.

Effectively, the YMPO offices on Orange Avenue, in Yuma, WILL BE CLOSED until further notice, although regional transportation planning services and efforts will continue.

The decision for staff to telework is based on the worsening situation for Coronavirus (COVID-19) in the Nation AND especially here in the Yuma region.

Efforts by YMPO staff have created the ability for staff to work from home, and will allow us to minimize the risk to elected and appointed members, staff at YMPO and/or our member agencies, and the public, of catching, or passing-on the virus. The decision to telework also closely follows what many MPOs and other agencies in Arizona, that already have work-at-home-plans in place, are currently implementing.

Last week, the YMPO Executive Board approved Amendment #1 to the FY 2020-2024 YMPO Transportation Improvement Program, and Amendment #2 to the FY 2020-2021 YMPO Unified Planning Work Program. These approvals mean that the “essential” portion of the YMPO role that involves near-term construction of roadway projects AND the continued oversight of regional planning studies has been primarily satisfied. Furthermore, YMPO staff will be able to continue our planning efforts, while working from remote locations.

The main difference to our current operations is because our office phone system is having problems re-directing phone calls. As a result, you are requested to either contact individuals directly by email or IF you wish to contact YMPO by phone, please call a special (temporary) mobile telephone number: (928) 581-7950. If individual staff members have already shared their mobile numbers with you, you are most welcome to call them directly.

If you have any questions, please respond to me by email or call me, as shown below.

Paul D. Ward, P.E., Executive Director

Yuma Metropolitan Planning Organization
